Central Coast Council’s 2023-24 Creative Spaces program is now live!

The first creative local in the 2023-24 program line-up, who will be occupying the Gallery Container located in the Toukley Village Green, is Sculptor David Hough.

David Hough’s sculptures and a variety of his other work has been skilfully curated to showcase his talent and creativity.  David will also be creating sculptural pieces throughout his residency until 22 November 2023.

Council Director of Community and Recreation Services Melanie Smith said the Coast is home to a vibrant community of artists and creatives, and this program continues to provide opportunities for them to showcase their talents.

“The Creative Spaces program is really vibrant and dynamic!  I encourage everyone to visit Creative Spaces in Toukley’s Village Green to explore, meet and greet David Hough during his residency, in particular to hear the stories behind each piece.  You can also try your hand at sculpting your own piece,” Ms Smith said.

“The first 100 visitors will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty and try out sculptural clay play for free held each Sunday with guided sessions by the artist himself until 22 November.

“The line up of creatives to host activities in the Gallery Container in the Toukley Village Green for the Creative Spaces 2023-24 program is fantastic and will positively contribute to the cultural life and increase visitation to Toukley for the benefit of local business.”

Council Administrator Rik Hart said Creative Spaces has always been supported by the Central Coast, home to some of the county’s top creatives, from sculptors to painters, ceramicists, and designers.

“The program has proven to be really important in developing and supporting people working in the creative industries, also highlighting the value they add to the local economy on the Coast,” Mr Hart said.
